MEET OUR EXPERIENCED GUIDE
Nick Long Owner & Operator,
Alaska 66th Parallel Pursuits
I was raised in Montana, where hunting and fishing were a way of life. But even as a kid, I knew Montana wasn’t enough—I dreamed of guiding in Alaska. After high school, I took a detour from that dream and chose to serve my country. Inspired by the men around me who joined the armed services, I enlisted in the U.S. Army to truly understand and honor the freedoms we enjoy as Americans.
After completing infantry training, airborne school, and joining the storied 101st Airborne Division, I served five years in a reconnaissance company, including my first combat deployment to Kunar, Afghanistan. When it came time to reenlist, I seized the opportunity to finally get to Alaska by taking a squad leader position at Fort Richardson. There, I served as a weapons squad leader and platoon sergeant in the Army’s only arctic airborne unit, completing a second combat deployment to Afghanistan.
After ten years of service, I knew it was time to chase the dream I’d carried since childhood. I entered Alaska’s guiding industry at the very bottom—as a packer—and worked my way up, guiding whenever I could until I earned my place as a registered guide.
Today, guiding isn’t just my profession—it’s my passion. There is nothing I enjoy more than helping others achieve their lifelong dream of hunting in Alaska, while sharing the breathtaking, untouched wilderness that makes this place unlike anywhere else on earth.
